Oak posts are placed in a vat of boiling water and then placed in a row of forms that bend
the posts at just the right spot! They stay in our dry kiln for 48 hours and when removed
have a perfect bend. We go one step further in making your stay in our chair more
comfortable by shaving off a portion of the front of the posts so they will not dig into your
back. The slats in the backs of these chairs and stools also visit the dry kiln and
are cut to encourage you sit awhile!

Troutman Chair's "tight fit" comes
from interlocking joinery.
This process is one in which the front
and back frames of the chairs and rockers are assembled separately.
When these two parts are clamped together, the boring on each frame notches the dowel on the front post and back post making it near impossible for the front or back assembly to be pulled apart.
Meet the no. 19 and 19T Cottage Ladder Back Chairs! Both sizes have a steam bent back
with flattened back posts for optimum comfort. The 19 was tested by Bureau Veritas a
national testing facility for weight capacity and came in withstanding 1,000 pounds!

our no. 15 and 15L chair with the slatted double scooped seat have been a mainstay at those
establishments. We have seen photographs in magazines with our chairs in kitchens,
bedrooms, and porches. These chairs are built tough but also very comfortable.
Traditional ladder back chairs like our no. 17 are getting harder to find.
We have the traditional styling of the ladder back with the extra cuts
in the back slats
and the straight back.

Our chairs can be purchased unfinished, but we are also
very proud of our "Just Right" color stains and paint finishes!
We are sure you will be pleased by their quality and durability.
We separate our finishes into three categories:
Natural (Clear) Satin Lacquer or Unfinished
Stains - Medium Oak and Cherry
Paints - Hunter Green, Charleston Green, Geranium Red, Black and White
Custom and Matching Orders: If an order is placed to "match" a previous order, color,
exact design, fabric, etc., it must be stated as such on the original purchase order.
We may require a sample be sent to the us, at the cusomter's expense, for our reference.
This sample will be sent back to the customer with the order. A deposit may be required.
